Notes

Let’s take a time capsule back to when we used to drive into work every day. I don’t know about you guys, but my energy started to fade mid-afternoon and I would always grab a couple of co-workers for an afternoon walk and pick me up at our convenient Starbucks. When Starbucks first introduced the new Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso, I remember drinking that grande cup as fast as my road rage gets triggered.
Covid sent all corporate offices to work from home and I missed the opportunity to conveniently pick up my cup of happiness. One afternoon in the kitchen, I pressed the double shot button and thought to myself, “Would adding Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Oat Milk, Espresso and Ice in my protein shaker taste similar to the drink from Starbucks?” I quickly combined all the ingredients and and excitedly took my first sip. It wasn’t the same. Too grainy and the drink lacked a blend of flavors into the Oat Milk and Espresso.
After work, I boiled Water, then added Brown Sugar, some Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon. Scooped a heaping spoonful and drizzled the golden elixir around a cup, added Ice, Oat Milk and Espresso. Mixed the baby up and Voila! I am back to my daily happy cup of Joe! Personally, I like my homemade syrup a little more, but I could be bias. I hope you all enjoy making your favorite drink in the kitchen as much as I did!
